Continuous belay system: Safety in our park

When we think of an adventure park, climbing up into the trees can command a bit of respect at first. But at Mendexa Abentura Park, safety is just as important as fun. Today we want to introduce you to our most important system: the continuous belay system.

When it comes to going up to the circuits, the main concern for many is: “What happens if I slip?”. The answer is very simple: nothing! Thanks to our reliable system, you will be able to enjoy the entire course with 100% peace of mind, without risks.

What exactly is the continuous belay system?

The continuous belay system is a safety mechanism. Its operation is very simple but incredibly effective:

• Single connection (the “C-key”): At the start of a circuit, we will insert the piece of your harness called the “C-key” into the safety cable. From that moment on, you will remain attached.
• Impossible to detach: Once inside the circuit, that C-key cannot be removed from the cable until you completely finish the course. This means that while you are up high, it is impossible to detach yourself from the cable, even if you want to!
• Smooth movement: The C-key slides along the cable as you move forward, without catching, so you can overcome the circuit’s obstacles with total freedom.

Why is it so important?

This system has numerous advantages, both for the participants and for those who stay on the ground:

• Peace of mind for parents: Parents who come with children often wonder if the little ones will use the safety systems correctly. With this method, children are attached at the beginning and detached at the end. During that time, parents can focus their attention solely on taking pictures and cheering.
• No mistakes: In traditional systems, two carabiners must be used and changed one by one at each step. With the continuous belay system and our C-key, that human error (releasing both at the same time) completely disappears.
• Focus on the challenge: Since you don’t have to think about how to attach the cables, you can direct all your attention to overcoming the obstacles, maintaining your balance, and enjoying nature. Your mind and body will be free to fully enjoy the adventure.

Safety from the first minute

Before climbing the trees, our team will give you a brief explanation (briefing) on the ground. There, we will show you how to put on the harness and how to slide the C-key along the cable to test it on a small circuit. Once you have understood everything well, you will be ready to climb up into the trees!
